A World of FlavorsFeast on fine fusion fare on a quiet city patio, relax over a burger or sample local specialties on St. Croix.By Bob Morris
Food lovers will find plenty to please them on St. Croix, whether they're looking for local specialties or in the mood for international cuisine.
Most dining choices are located in and around Christiansted and Frederiksted. You'll find everything from Italian and French restaurants to delis and pizza parlors, including a number of restaurants that offer s Danish specialties in a nod to the island's heritage. Crucians enjoy picking up takeout food that is typically offered at roadside stalls, so be sure to stop and give that a try. Among the local dishes are roast goat, pates (spicy meat-filled pastries, like Jamaican patties and Spanish empanadas), and red-pea soup, made from kidney beans. |
